Dear Pc Mars Plus owners: Subject: Update to version 2.1

This letter is announcing an update to version 2.1. We have listened to your requests, and came up with a good sized list of changes and improvements. Here is a partial list:

1. Recurring Transactions: Set up and use repeating transactions, you have more control over what goes into them.

2. Payroll improvements: More provisions for complicated hired labor arrangements.

3. Lookback: More power to look back at previous year's data for entering data.

4. Multi-Year Reports: More report options that include previous years.

5. Backups: Full support of flash memory sticks. Program retains last used backup settings.

6. Credit Transactions: You can now print checks using credit transactions.

7. Reconcile: More tweaks to make reconciling your checkbook easier.

8. Safety: Prevent from tinkering with ending liability code balances. Plus deletes files only made by Plus. Plus checks for deactivated codes in budget file. Pc Mars Plus v2.1 and up, checks for data made by versions newer than version being used.

9. Continue to receive Internet updates/patches and support (for the new 2.1 version only).

· Cash: In order to keep costs down, we will insist on C.O.B. (cash on the barrel head). This means to send a check with this form to SoftShell Computer Services. All orders will be mailed out first class mail.

· Serial Number: Another point to make is to be SURE you have included your serial number. Assuming you have the Windows version now, it starts with WP- and is on your CD protector, or Diskette #1, and it is on the table of contents page of your manual. The new program will be distributed on a CD.

List of 24 additional “top” changes available in the PcMars 2.1 version:

1. Added ability to select multiple cash-flow and budget files to carry-over.

2. Added ability to enter incomes in revolving credit transactions.

3. Changed the browse screen to select full date ranges (as is done in the "Find" screen).

4. Added the ability to select a dollar amount in browse and in selected items reports.

5. Added the ability to look at and use previous year's data with the "Reuse" function.

6. "Join" with previous year feature added to 1099 reports. (Vendor Summary Report and Vendor Detail Report)

7. Added a period or month range option in the Multi-year cash summary report and Multi-Year income statement.

8. Backup deletes only the data files associated with Pc Mars or Plus (not all files) before a backup is done.

9. A warning is given before you print and also “noted” on the report if deactivated codes are used in a budget file.

10. Added Recurring transactions (Checks, Incomes & Credit).These are entered in screens similar to normal transactions from a browse type screen under setup. You can select monthly, weekly or a day when you want them to automatically remind you. When the recurring date rolls around, a screen pops up which asks the user if he wants to add them, don't add them, or quit asking (add at later time). You will be asked again in an hour if you responded "quit asking".  These carry a “name” that you choose. You can use these “names” to manually add the transaction.

11. Added a multi-year loan report.

12. All applicable report options are saved for the next time a report is run.

13. SUTA attachment added to the SUTA Report.

14. An option was added to print "Current Page" when printing from the report preview.

15. Added payroll notes for each employee.

16. Hourly wage added on paycheck stub.

17. Added an option to print only the uncleared checks in the Check Register.

18. Changed reconcile screen to “link” with previous year. “Uncleared” checks from last year will be shown in the reconcile screen to be able to clear from the current set of books.

19. Whenever there is a change to a previous year’s data, all Asset, Liability, and Bank balances are optionally carried over to the current year. A screen is displayed giving the option to the user of doing this (default) or rejecting. This can also be done manually at any time.

20. Installing over an existing program does not overwrite previous program options.

21. Eliminated "No set of books to backup" message when there are no set of books under program directory.

22. The "Open Set of Books" window is now re-sizeable.

23. If the data version is higher than the program version, there is a clickable link to PCMARS.COM to download the latest patch.

24. Added a "Web updates & info" screen. This is under the Help menu. Added an ICON for it on the tool bar. It has clickable links to PCMARS.COM and SoftShell web sites.

Plus Features:

1. Added Profit Center Analysis report.

2. If inventories only have “unassigned Inventory” items in them, you can de-activate the account code.

3. Cleared Balances are calculated in the Combine Utility.

4. Average per month figures are displayed on the livestock check and crop/feed check reports.

5. Added breeding/feeding/both livestock sub-type option in enterprise setup. Only the breeding/feeding will show up in livestock inventory screen.

6. A warning will be given if the user unchecks the “Manual entry” check box in the Livestock and Crop/Feed check.

7. A warning will be given if the user checks “Inv Tr” check box in all asset and liability screens.

8. On transaction screens, if an Inventory Number is entered but no units, a warning will be given for production inventory codes.
