Sound Forge Migration To JAWS 9.0

This page lists tips for getting Sound Forge 8 or 9 scripts to work correctly under JAWS 9.0. Use the H command in jaws to examine the list of known possible issues and their solutions.

Braille No Longer Displays the Correct Information

  1. While in Sound Forge, Press insert+6 to open the config manager for Sound Forge. Press alt+s, followed by B, to get to the braille settings. Tab across to braille mode, and use up and down arrow to select structured mode. Then, press enter, followed by alt+f4, then enter to save your changes.
  2. Use the script manager to open file forge90brl, or forge80brl, depending on your version of sound forge. Press control+s to recompile this file. then close the script manager.
Now, braille should work properly.

Audio Scanning no longer works?

If this happens, simply retraing the location of the transport controls.
to do this, while in Sound Forge, press alt+control+shift+t, followed by the enter key.

A slider doesn't work, slider value is not spoken

While focus is on the bad slider, press insert+7 on the numbers row. Jaws will speak the class of the control, which usually ends in the words "faderClass" or something similar. Tab once, to the list of possible reclassifications, and choose "slider", then tab to the reclass button and press enter.
